This past December, DIL-NOWA school student Zamin Raza Mangi was awarded the President’s Gold Medal by the Pakistan Boy Scouts Association. The President of Pakistan presented the award at the Presidency in Islamabad.
Held every four years, the competition tests participants on both mental and physical capabilities. Ten-year-old Zamin competed against participants from 24 Sindh districts, and was awarded the title of “Best Shaheen Scout of Sindh” for the year 2015.
Gold medalists from across Pakistan then competed nationally to be part of the “World Tour” and Zamin secured 2nd place.
Zamin’s father, a laborer, credits DIL-NOWA school for giving his son the confidence and agility that led to his success.
“I will support my children’s education no matter what financial circumstances I am going through,” explains his father. “Mostly fathers are role models but, for me, my son is a role model and I am known as ‘Zamin’s father.’”
Zamin has received more than 50 certificates of achievement and appreciation for the various activities and community work he has done since joining the Shaheen Scouts in 2013.
He has not only made his family, his community and DIL proud; he has grown the self-assurance to achieve his goals.
“I have gained a lot of knowledge and confidence in the DIL school environment where teachers promote and support talent,” Zamin explains. “I will work hard to achieve more in the future and continue to make my school and parents proud.”
